Jodi’s research focuses on creating and working with deep learning models to study the complex DNA sequence grammar regulating the genome. Currently, she is leveraging Cardiac-Akita, a DNA sequence to 3D genome folding deep learning model, to predict how genetic variants associated with congenital heart defects disrupt 3D genome contacts.

-Jesse Handler is a physician-scientist focused on understanding and intercepting the progression of pancreatic and colorectal cancers. He is currently a fellow in the Kalhor Lab at Johns Hopkins Universitywhere he integrates genomics, genome engineering, and computational approaches to study cancer evolution and metastasis. This fall, he will launch his own laboratory as a physician-scientist in GI oncology at Emory University. His research aims to uncover molecular mechanisms of metastasis and drug resistance and to translate these insights into therapeutic strategies.+<font 14px/inherit;;inherit;;inherit>**8:30-9:00 am Pacific Time (20 minute presentation10 minute QA)**</font>

He obtained his B.S. in Chemistry from Peking University and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. In collaboration with Prof. W. E. Moerner’s lab, he developed and applied a high-resolution, reagent-based DNA imaging platformOligo-LiveFISH, to investigate 3D chromatin dynamics in live cells. His current research focuses on applying Oligo-LiveFISH to study various biological questions such as the relationship between the 3D genome and gene regulation in real time, as well as investigating the dynamic process of DNA repair.

-Mrinmoy completed his BS-MS dual degree at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Kolkata. He then moved to Germany to pursue his PhD in the laboratory of Maria-Elena Torres-Padilla at Helmholtz Munichas a Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher. His research is focused on how nuclear organization and chromatin dynamics influence developmental processes in early mouse embryos. +
