He did his post-doctoral work in the lab of Mark Groudine studying chromatin and epigenetics in embryonic stem cells. He received his PhD from the University of California Berkeley, where he worked on B cell development and immunoglobulin gene rearrangement in the lab of Mark Schlissel.
