Tom Pastinen
PhD
Center for Pediatric Genomic Medicine (CPGM)
Title: “Interacting differentially methylated regions (iDMRs) to infer chromosome looping”
Dr. Pastinen is originally from Finland where he completed his medical degree and his PhD in Human Genetics at the University of Helsinki with a focus on the development of array-based genotyping methods and their application to the study of complex diseases. He moved to Canada for his postdoctoral fellowship at McGill University where he became a faculty member. While serving in the position of Canada Research Chair, Dr. Pastinen co-led a large-scale Epigenome Mapping Center (EMC) at McGill University, he continues to co-lead the IHEC affiliated EMC at McGill where he holds a co-appointment. Dr. Pastinen received the Maud Menten Young Investigator Award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
8:30-8:50 am Pacific Time, then 10 minutes Q&A
Keji Zhao
PhD
NHLBI
Title:“Trac-looping: a novel technique for analysis of chromatin accessibility and interaction”
Keji Zhao, Ph.D., is a Senior Investigator and Director of the Systems Biology Center, at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). Dr. Zhao received his PhD from the University of Geneva, Switzerland. Prior to joining NHLBI, Dr. Zhao was a Damon Runyon-Walter Winchel Cancer Research Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University, Calif. Dr. Zhao’s research focuses on the epigenetic regulation of cell differentiation and cell memory. His laboratory pioneered the ChIP-SAGE, ChIP-Seq, MNase-Seq and single-cell DNase-seq (scDNase-seq) techniques. Dr. Zhao’s laboratory is currently investigating the function and regulation of three-dimensional nuclear structure in the immune system.
