Amin Allahyar

PhD

Delft University of Technology

a.allahyar@hubrecht.eu

Title: Enhancer hubs and loop collisions identified from single-allele topologie

Amin Allahyar performed his PhD (2018) at the Delft University of Technology (Dr. Jeroen de Ridder) where he explored different methods to identify gene expression markers that are predictive of breast cancer survival outcome. There markers are sought to be formed by integrating expression levels of functionally relevant genes represented in interaction networks. He further extended this idea to utilize publicly available expression data to form a breast cancer survival specific network that connects genes that collectively show predictive power beyond level of individual genes. In parallel, he was also responsible for computational analysis regarding MC-4C which was designed to unravel the multi-contact 3D chromatin interactions that occur within the cell nucleus. As a postdoc, he joined the group of Prof. Wouter de Laat to continue on multi-contact analysis but this time for genome wide methods like Hi-C.

Brad Cairns

PhD

University of Utah

Title: How the Genome Awakens in Zebrafish

The Cairns lab strives to understand chromatin-transcription relationships – with an emphasis on chromatin remodeling mechanisms, germline development, early embryo development, and totipotency - including how these processes are misrelated in cancer.
