Meeting program (final), May 16, 2018

Title: 4DN-ASCB Satellite Meeting: bridging the 4D Genome with Cell Biology.

This conference, jointly organized by the 4D Nucleome (4DN) network and the American Society of Cell Biology, will feature recent technological and conceptual advances in research of the higher order chromatin organization in eukaryotic cells. The 4DN network was launched in 2015 as an NIH Common Fund project, and its goal is to develop and apply approaches to map chromatin structure and dynamics to gain a deeper mechanistic understanding of how the nucleus is functionally organized. The ASCB is an international community of over 9000 scientists studying the biology of cell. The 2018 4DN/ASCB mini-symposium aims to highlight rapid progress in the study of genome organization and facilitate the dissemination of new technologies and concepts to the broader cell biology community.

All facilities have availability. * (Decided on July 24, 2017) - per email from Judy Mietz, 2018 Doorstep meeting is set for Dec. 7th, 2018. 4DN Annual meeting only on Dec. 5-6, 2018. * OH (Kate) working with ASCB organizers and to find venue for the Annual meeting. * (Suggested on June 16, 2017): One suggestion is to meet December 5-7, which would be immediately after the ASCB meeting in December 8-12, 2018. * Thoru Pederson, Olivier Blondel and Judy Mietz spoke with the ASCB organizers. ASCB organizers are enthusiastic about a 4DN-ASCB doorstep meeting in 2018. This would be a one-day meeting/symposium (public) on Friday December 7, 2018 –before the start of ASCB. The 4DN consortium-only part of the annual meeting could be the day before. * The suggestion was made to try and have this at one of the conference hotels (very near the convention center where ASCB attendees would likely stay). The convention center would be loud and “under construction” the day before the meeting starts (with set-up etc.). * Note from July 18 SC meeting: comments to the above proposal should be added to this wiki page by July 24th, 2018. * (Suggested on June 8, 2017): Another suggestion is that the 2018 4DN annual meeting to be connected with * ASHG 2018 Annual Meeting (October 16 - 20, 2018) at San Diego, making it convenient for those who will participate ASHG. Following this suggestion, potential dates for the 4DN annual meeting are October 21-24, 2018. Please comment on whether there are major conflicts for Oct 21-24, 2018. —- **Potential Topics and Speakers ** (google doc created on Nov 16, 2017).
