NOFIC Steering Committee

Introduction

In order to address some questions I have been receiving about the role of the NOFIC SC and the process moving forward, herein I will summarize the role of the NOFIC SC, some processes and highlight some important points.

The overarching role of the NOFIC SC is to facilitate communication and foster collaboration across the NOFIC, while providing NOFIC-vetted recommendations to the consortium 4DN SC, which consists of only 3 NOFIC voting members. In addition to other responsibilities, the NOFIC investigators as part of the NOFIC SC will play critical roles in developing standardized methodologies (e.g. a standardized mapping technological & cellular platform), so that reference maps can eventually be created and achieved.

The NOFIC-SC is composed of the following voting members: all NOFIC U54 PDs/PIs, one representative of the 4DN-DCIC and one NIH Project Scientist involved in the management of the NOFIC.

Mission

This can be a statement describing the mission of this committee.

Presentation sign up

On March 2018 NOFIC Steering Committee call, we discussed important changes to future NOFIC steering committee conference calls. Specifically, recognizing the need for NOFIC Centers to be aware of the research activities going on among the centers, and to more effectively forge cross center collaborations, we would like to ask each U54 to give a scientific report to the group over the next three NOFIC monthly calls. The U54 PIs are encouraged to focus their report on early-stage or developing stories, the strategies for functional validation/characterization of chromatin organization features, and plans for data production activities (if applicable). Report by each U54 will be 20 minutes in length, followed by 10 minutes discussion. Two scientific reports will be scheduled for each of the next three sessions, and we would like you to indicate your preference in the following signing up sheet here. Please provide your answer by March 11th (Sunday).
In addition to signing up for the above report, we would also like you to provide, in the same sheet, names of co-investigators and key personnel from your center whom you think should participate in these calls. We will add these names to the mailing list for the call when announcing the schedule of the conference call.
