Partner Consortiums (new)

International Human Epigenome Consortium (IHEC)

As you may remember, the Bioethics WG developed a survey for an international study about the opportunities, challenges, and ethical issues in the field of epigenetics.

They are hoping to hear from nearly 300 researchers around the world.

If you have not already filled out the survey, we would like to ask you to please do so now.

SURVEY LINK:https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/M5RZ9T3

The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete and consists of 20 questions.

The study is being conducted by researchers at The Centre of Genomics and Policy at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. It has been reviewed by and received ethics clearance through The Faculty of Medicine Institutional Review Board. If you have any questions or concerns, you are welcome to contact:

September 25, 2018 - Please find the minutes from today’s meeting, as well as the Integrative Analysis slides from Guillaume, attached. Please note that this was the last call that will be on this line, as NIH is no longer supporting IHEC after this month. It has been a pleasure working with all of you, and I hope our paths cross in the future!

July 25, 2018 - Update from Ecosystem and Integrative Analysis WG:

  • The recent discussions in the IHEC Integrative Analysis and Ecosystem working groups on metadata validation. As a reminder, at the last IHEC Annual Meeting in Berlin, all groups committed to fix their datasets metadata submitted at EGA, to follow IHEC standards. The metadata specifications document is available here: https://github.com/IHEC/ihec-metadata/blob/master/specs/Ihec_metadata_specification.md. As displayed in the EpiRR validation report, datasets produced by the AMED-CREST consortium currently has some invalid metadata, as follow:
    • 324 non-validating samples
    • 0 non-validating experiments
  • As a reminder, only datasets passing validation will be included in the epiMAP integrative analysis project. Therefore, it'd be appreciated if you could revisit your metadata by August 13th 2018, following these steps:
    • Download the IHEC XML validator (https://github.com/IHEC/ihec-ecosystems/tree/master/version_metadata), to run on XML documents you submitted at EGA. Use the -sample option to validate samples, and the -experiment option to validate experiments.
    • Fix metadata where needed
    • Contact EGA support to mention that a metadata update is requested
    • Update corrected XMLs to the EGA using the “update” mode
    • Contact EpiRR to indicate that datasets metadata has been updated, and resubmit EpiRR JSON documents.
    • Do not hesitate to contact the Ecosystem working group if you have any questions along the way (ihec-ecosystem@ebi.ac.uk).
